Sales Girl Steals Money To Buy Cherokee Jeep For Boyfriend

A 28-year old medical student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, William Jefferson and his girlfriend, Ernestina Amoo-Mensah, also 28, a sales representative, have been arraigned before court for conspiring to steal GH99.700 belonging to her employer.

Ernestina who works at Unic Care chemist at Patasi in Kumasi is accused of stealing the money belonging to Mr. Solomon Sangu Sambo, the owner and buying a Cherokee Jeep which she registered in the boyfriend’s name. Their plea was not taken and the court, presided over by William Boampong granted each of them GH200,00 bail with one surety. Prosecuting Chief Superintendent Moses Attibilla said in May this year, the complainant Mr. Sambo, realized that there was a shortfall in the stocks at the shop and confronted Ernestina over discrepancies in the accounts. Ernestina explained that she had sold some of the goods on credit and went on to provide the complainant with the list of the debtors.

Mr. Attibilah said Mr. Sambo called the alleged debtors to ascertain the veracity of Ernestina’s claims, but all of them said that though they bought some of the drugs on credit, they had since honoured their obligations and such, were not indebted to the company. He said when Sambo confronted her again, Ernestina told him that she has given GH300,000 to Jefferson, to access some insurance claims in the United States of America.

Mr. Attibilla said further investigations conducted revealed that drugs worth GH¢76,000 could not be accounted for.
