Salaries of all public servants have been paid on schedule

Accra, July 24, GNA - The Controller and Accountant-General said on Thursday that July salaries of all public servants have been paid on schedule.

"As of now, the payment vouchers for all public servants including teachers have been dispatched to all the regions," a statement signed by Mr John Prempeh, Controller and Accountant-General, said.

The statement said in line with the implementation of cash management system introduced by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, monthly cash releases are made into the Pensions and Salaries Account for payment of pensions and salaries.

It said on July 14, the Ministry authorised the Controller and Accountant-General to disburse a total of 400 billion cedis for the payment of salaries to all public servants.

"The payroll section of the Controller and Accountant-General's Department processed the July 2003 payroll for public servants on the national payroll, including all employees of the Ministry of Education."

The statement said on July 18, the Controller and Accountant General's Department advised the Bank of Ghana to release the amount required for the payment of salaries into the bank accounts of all public servants.

"The head offices of the various banks have confirmed receipt of the amounts. The banks are, therefore, crediting the accounts of all employees."
