The Member of Parliament for the Salaga-South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has sponsored the installation of new streetlights in Makango, one of the major communities within her constituency.
The project, undertaken ahead of the Christmas season, aims to improve security and enhance visibility for residents, motorists and traders who depend on the community’s busy road network.
The new streetlights are expected to help reduce petty crime and make evening activities safer and more convenient.
Residents of Makango have enthusiastically welcomed the initiative and expressed profound gratitude to the MP for responding promptly to their long-standing appeal.
They believe the installation will greatly transform night-time life in the area and significantly enhance community safety.
As part of her broader development agenda, Hajia Zuwera has indicated that "more communities within the constituency will soon benefit from similar lighting projects."
She emphasised that "improved security infrastructure remains a key priority as the festive period approaches, noting that illuminated streets help prevent accidents and support economic activities after dark."
Community leaders in Makango also praised the MP for her consistent engagement and intervention in addressing their developmental challenges.
They described the streetlight installation as a timely gesture that will not only secure the area but also encourage social events and commerce during the Christmas festivities.
