The Member of Parliament for Salaga South and Vice Chairperson of the Gender Committee, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimiah, on Thursday December 11, 2025 led the committee to join officials from the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection on a nationwide monitoring exercise of the School Feeding Programme.
Speaking during the visit, Ibrahimiah said the joint monitoring mission was essential to ensuring transparency and accuracy in assessing the effectiveness of the programme.
She explained that "direct engagement with beneficiary schools enables the committee to better understand the real challenges on the ground as well as the progress made so far."
According to her, "the information gathered from the visits will play a critical role in strengthening parliamentary oversight and shaping policies aimed at improving children’s nutrition, welfare and access to quality meals across the country."
The monitoring team visited several basic schools where they interacted with caterers, pupils and school authorities.
They inspected kitchen facilities, observed meal preparation processes and assessed the quality and quantity of food being served to pupils under the programme.
