Some angry New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth in the Sagnarigu District of the Northern Region have stormed the premises of the district assembly to demand the removal of the District Coordinating Director, Zakaria Ibn Wumbei.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that Mr. Wumbei has been transferred from the Sagnarigu District from August 1, 2017 but has since not vacated his post.

He was not in the office at the time the youth stormed the assembly.

The NPP youth accused the District Coordinating Director of hampering the progress of the district and therefore called for his dismissal.

“He has done everything possible to thwart the efforts of every DCE appointed into office to bring development to the district.”

According to the group, Mr. Wumbei has the tendency of creating problems for DCEs and they were not going to allow him to continue.

Mr. Ibn Wumbei, during the era of the previous NDC administration, was chased out of office in several districts, including Kumbungu, Mion, Bunpkrugu-Yunyoo due to similar behaviour.

“We have heard that he was not in the best working relationship with the then DCE due to his illicit activities,” the youth said.

The youth accused the Coordinating Director of causing problems for the current Sagnarigu DCE Mariam Iddrisu.

“Mr. Ibn Wumbei instigated members of the assembly to petition for a vote of no confidence in the hard working DCE.”

Speaking to DAILY GUIDE, the leader of the group, Alhassan Abubakari Zakaria, alleged that the Coordinating Director has been blackmailing DCEs by diabolically creating confusion between the Assembly members and the hardworking staff.

He therefore called on the Northern Regional Minister to intervene in the matter by ensuring his transfer.

Alhassan Abubakari Zakaria, however, urged all staff of the district assembly to keep up the good works.
