Sack your health advisers; Prez Mahama ridicules Nana

President Mahama has lampooned flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party for promising children under 18 free healthcare when children are already enjoying such a policy under the NDC government.

According to the President, he was taken by surprise when he heard Nana Akufo-Addo making such a promise when the government gave an administrative directive in 2009 that a child below eighteen years must be treated without any fees.

Addressing supporters at a mini rally in the Western Region where he is continuing with his campaign, President Mahama said a leader of a major political party like the NPP should have been on top of such information before coming out to make a promise.

He revealed that recently before parliament went on recess, the NHIA law was amended to indicate that “Children under 18 don’t pay when they go to the hospital,” in order to add a legal backing to an already existing order.

The President went on to ridicule the advisors of Nana Addo saying, Nana Addo should sack his advisors for his gaffe.

President Mahama slammed the NPP flagbearer for consistently making promises out of a mere desire to win the December polls without necessarily thinking through the promise. He cited the free SHS promise by the NPP as a typical example of such promises.

President Mahama once again assured the people of his commitment to a peaceful election. He further urged the supporters to go out in their numbers to vote for the NDC.
