Founding President of think tank IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has entreated President Nana Akufo-Addo to sack 15 ministers in his government.

In the wake of the dismissal of Jose Mourinho as manager of English club Manchester United, Mr Cudjoe suggested President Akufo-Addo follow suit to reduce the size of his government.

“Nana Addo, see Man U has fired Jose before the end of the year? Fire at least 15 and reduce ministerial numbers from 111 to 80,” Mr Cudjoe stated in a Facebook post on Tuesday, 18 December 2018, shortly after the announcement of Manchester United’s decision to part ways with Mourinho.

President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, 9 August announced his first reshuffle and added on to the initial number of ministers.

Two new ministerial portfolios – Minister of State at the Office of the Vice-President and Minister of State at the Office of the President – were added.

The president has been under criticism for appointing 110 ministers and was expected to use the reshuffle to drop some of his ministers but did not do so.
