STANCHART gets new MD

Accra, May 4, GNA - Mr Joseph Abraham, Executive Director (Corporate and Institutional Banking), STANCHART, was on Wednesday appointed the new Managing Director of the Bank.

He succeeds Mr Vishnu Mohan, who has been transferred to Thailand as the Managing Director. This was disclosed by Mr David Andoh, Chairman of STANCHART Board, at a meeting organised by the bank in Accra to bid farewell to the latter and welcome the former.

Mr Andoh praised customers of the bank for their support, by way of constructive criticisms and suggestions, which, he said, had helped improve the bank's services over the years. He commended Mr Mohan for leading the bank to perform highly and win several awards during his tenure office.

He said the appointment of Mr Abraham would provide continuity in the good services provided to customers and staff to enable the bank to push forward with its clear strategy of maintaining world class service.

The performance of Mr Abraham, a Stanford graduate who was transferred to Ghana from London in 1997, has been exceptional and both the board of Directors and the entire staff have welcomed his appointment, Mr Andoh said.

Mr Abraham assured customers of continuity, saying: "I will continue to focus on the customers by bringing in more products for their benefit". "I will commit government and multi-lateral institutions to support the productive sectors of the economy," he added.

Mr Abraham commended Mr Mohan, who, he said, had helped create a bank that is self-sustaining with a great team. Mr Mohan, who spent over four years in Ghana, said he enjoyed the challenges of the job together with the strong team that he worked with. He commended Ghanaians for their intellect, saying: "Ghanaians are intelligent and that accounts for their handling of key positions in the bank in various countries like Zambia and Botswana, among others".
