SSNIT to rollout retirement scheme for Ghanaians abroad

Wegbe (V/R), Aug 25, GNA - The Informal Sector Fund (SISF) of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is exploring ways to rollout a Diaspora Retirement Scheme for Ghanaians living abroad.

Mr William Sasu, General Manager in-charge of Finance and Administration, said the Scheme, which would kick-start with the United Kingdom and the United States, is targeted at providing a platform for Ghanaians living abroad to contribute to their retirement whiles in active service.

The Fund would soon establish a credit scheme to provide the leverage for soft loans to businesses and individuals to expand.

Mr Sasu, who was speaking at a ceremony to mark the second anniversary of the Hohoe Contact office of SISF at Gbi-Wegbe on Tuesday, said the Fund was setting up a data project to network its offices, operations and also allow clients to access their contribution with ease.

He said the Fund size had grown to GHc 20 million and could boast of 90,000 clients throughout the country, since its inception two years ago.

Mr Sasu said it now operates from seven regions with 17 offices and intends to establish six more by the close of year, two in Kumasi and one each in Ho, Swedru, Nkawkaw and Sunyani.

Mr Gabriel Avoke, Marketing Officer of the Hohoe Contact Office, said GHc 750,319 was mobilized and has a clientele base of 7,000.

Mr Victor Agbenu, Hohoe branch Manager of SSINT commended SISF Hohoe contact office for posting impressive returns.
