We are utterly disgusted with the way and manner the Social Security and National Insurance Trust had continued to degenerate it corporate image since the completion of the acquisition for Merchant bank.
The fundamental principle that underpins the establishment of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust was to administer pension schemes, but not to meddle in politics.
COALITION OF YOUNG LIBERALS (COYLIB) expected such a corporate body to promote and shape the dreams of Ghanaians rather than engaging in activities that undermines the Trust credibility.
An institution of this calibre should have advised the Government in areas that would have prevented the current economic predicament most Ghanaians found themselves and not witch hunt IMANI Ghana.
We are not in any position to remind them of their ‘job description’ as an entity under the Government; that oversees the welfare of Ghanaian pensioners. SSNIT must rise above the current politico-economic situation that had engulfed the country, and consider the consequences on their investment arm of business.
We are still in doubt that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust can promote the economic security of the Ghanaian worker through prudent investment mechanisms with their ‘unconventional methods’ of collecting contributions contrary to the National Pension Act 766.
COYLIB will urge the Board of Trustees to act quickly and direct the policy of SSNIT under the current Management. The Management should focus and concentrate on their core business activities to avoid plunging right into political quagmire.
God blesses Ghana
