The Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has underscored the importance of rising above partisan politics and fostering collaboration among leaders to serve the best interests of Ghanaians.
According to him, this practice could enable the country and its citizens to make a meaningful and lasting impact, provided they remain united in purpose and committed to the collective well-being of all Ghanaians.
The lawmaker made this known while commending the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for his timely intervention in securing a visa for Suzy Pinamang to facilitate her travel to the United Kingdom for surgery.
“I wish to express my deepest appreciation to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs, for his swift intervention, upon my request, in helping to secure UK visas for young Suzy Adwoa Pinamang and her caregivers. His exemplary leadership and effective coordination with the UK High Commission have brought us one step closer to Suzy’s healing journey,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Friday, May 9, 2025.
Additionally, Asenso-Boakye, a former Minister of Works and Housing, extended his heartfelt appreciation to businessman Ibrahim Mahama for covering the full cost of Suzy Pinamang’s eye surgery, as well as to the UK High Commissioner for her support during the visa application process.
“I also commend Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, the UK High Commissioner, for her warm and compassionate support throughout the visa process. A special thank you goes to Mr. Ibrahim Mahama for his remarkable generosity in covering the full cost of Suzy’s medical treatment abroad. His kindness has brought renewed hope to this brave young girl and her family,” he continued.
He added, “This is a powerful reminder that when we set politics aside and act with compassion and unity, we can make a lasting difference. Suzy’s courage continues to inspire us all.”
His comments follow an update from Okudzeto Ablakwa, who announced that UK visas had been secured for Suzy Pinamang and two caregivers to accompany her for the eye surgery.
Suzy, a second-year student at Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, tragically lost her sight after being shot in the eye by a fellow student.
