SCHOOL HEALTH EDUCATION

Mrs. Grace Adu-Boahen, deputy Regional Director of Nursing Services in Ashanti, has stressed the need for the Health Authorities to promote and preserve the health status of the School child so that they benefit from the education being received.

Speaking at the inauguration of a 14-member Committee of the School Health Education Programme (SHEP) at the Teachers' Hall in Kumasi recently Mrs. Adu-Boahen said children were great assets to a nation, a fact which should not be over-emphasised.

According to the Deputy Director, the Committee will also educate teachers and senior pupils in first aid principles and how to recognise ill-health or symptoms with a school child.
