Mr Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, has expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives through the June 3 flood and fire disaster that hit Accra.
President Putin also expressed his wish for the speedy recovery of all those who got injured in the disaster.
Dmitry Suslov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Ghana, with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Liberia, read the President's message, at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the National Day of the Russian Federation in Accra.
“The National Day of Russia is being celebrated in Ghana this year in an atmosphere of grief and sorrow for the victims of one of the darkest nights in Ghana’s history, the night full of torrential rain, fire and death,” he said.
President Putin said the government and people of Russia shared in Ghana’s grief and wished a speedy recovery to the injured ones.
On Wednesday June 3, a seven-hour torrential rain hit Accra, leading to an explosion at the GOIL Filling Station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, killing over 150 people.
