Rousing welcome for Prof Mills in Kumasi

Kumasi, Oct. 23, GNA - Prof John Atta Mills, presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was on Wednesday given a rousing welcome by supporters of the party in Kumasi when he visited the metropolis to interact with party faithful.

Clad in the NDC colours, the supporters chanted the party's slogans amidst brass band music as his convoy passed through some principal streets of Kumasi.

Addressing separate rallies at Kaase, Asokwa, Ahensan, Ayigya, Ayigya Zongo, Tech, Oforikrom and Anloga Junction, all suburbs of Kumasi, Pro Mills said the NDC had the men who are capable of leading the nation to prosperity when given the mandate in the December 7 poll. He appealed to Ghanaians not to vote for any party other than the NDC to transform the economy.

He attributed the high rate of poverty, hunger, unemployment and lawlessness in the country to the poor economic policies and programmes of the NPP, saying this had resulted in unprecedented hardship. Prof Mills appealed to activists of the NDC to read and understand the party's manifesto very well as it contained the solutions to the present economic hardships facing the Country.

Mr. Ebenezer Terlabi, Oforikrom NDC parliamentary candidate, debunked allegations he had withdrawn from the parliamentary race, and said since this was a ploy to disrupt his campaign all well-meaning supporters should treat the allegations with the contempt it deserves. He appealed to the electorate in the constituency to vote massively for him so that he could improve the living conditions of the people through pro-active development programmes.
