Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central supports Asempaneye School

Asempaneye (ER), July 1, GNA - The Rotary Club of Accra Ring Road Central, with the assistance of MTN Ghana, is constructing a second six-classroom block valued at $90,000 for Asempaneye community in the Akuapim North District in the Eastern Region.

The Club has already constructed a 60,000-dolar six-classroom block and a three seater modern KVIP for the pupils from its coffers.

Mr Victor Yaw Asante, President of Accra Ring Road Central Club, who was speaking during an inspection of the project on Friday, said the Club took the initiative to construct the classroom blocks due to the deplorable conditions under which the pupils studied.

"The pupils here use to study in a deplorable muddy structure which we pulled down for the construction of an appropriate building for them," he said.

"Spreading literacy in the 21st Century is key to development and we cannot be more proud of our school project at Asempaneye in the Akuapim North. It's an achievement that others can only dream of."

He noted that with partnership from Standard Chartered Bank, the Club was able to acquire 200 dual desks to furnish the first school block.

Mr Asante expressed appreciation to Rotary Clubs in the US, Denmark and Holland for their assistance to the Club.

He said since its inception 25 years ago, the Accra Ring Road Central Club had reached out to many deprived people and communities and would continue to do so.

"We have not only provided resources to the local communities but also given people improved opportunities to look within themselves and be the best they could be - and that is the spirit of Rotary," he said.

Mr Asante mentioned the renovation of Kaneshie Cripples Home and the Accra Rehabilitation Centre, provision of sewing machines and craft tools to the physically challenged students of the Centre, presentation of food items to Nsawam Orthopaedic Centre and an eye care project at La General Hospital as some of the activities of the Club.

"We have also supplied teaching aids and computers, renovated and connected electricity to the Teshie Presbyterian JHS and Bawjiase orphanage."

He said the Club had also supported institutions such as the Teshie State School for the Deaf and Dumb, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Prison Service, Ghana Water Company Limited, Golden Tulip and Saboba Agricultural Station.
