"Romeo" Bishop To Be Excommunicated

Mozano (Central Region) - Evidence available to The Ghanaian Chronicle indicates that the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) Prophet Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah, aka Akaboha III, may soon be excommunicated from the church.

?We are Bible-believing church, we cannot cover or shield any person whose acts have brought the name of the Lord and his church into disrepute,? one disturbed prophet of the MDCC told the paper last week.

The paper, however, has learnt that the move to remove the bishop from the kingship and also the ultimate leader of MDCC would not be an easy task because he is marshalling all the resources at his disposal to fight back.

As part of the move to throw the controversial bishop out, the three powerful bodies that can be described as the realm of the MDCC had served notice to part ways with Akaboha III.

The three bodies, namely, the Elders? Council/Apankanhenfo, Oman and the Prophets and Pastors, in separate resolutions sighted by the Chronicle were emphatic that they can no longer serve the suspended spiritual head of the church.

A resolution adopted by the Elders? Council on 24 January, this year, which was signed by the 19 members that formed the council said, ?We can no longer serve you as our Akabohoa.?

The decision of the Elders? Council, according to insiders, stems from the fact that Bishop Akaboha has not been able to defend and explain to the satisfaction of the members his innocence in the sexual abuse allegations level against him.

The council hinted that over the years, they had monitored Akaboha?s activities closely, and it was time to call a spade a spade and part ways with him. ?Since he is not prepared to follow the way of the Lord, which his predecessor did, we cannot close our eyes or fold our arms and allow such a person to continue to lead us,? they pointed out. ?Because of his misbehaviour as a sitting Akaboha, even his son has refused to fellowship with the Musama church,? another leading member of the church told Chronicle.

?Again, his performance as the leader of the church is an apology and if we do not call him to order, the church would collapse under his leadership,? he noted, adding that already, almost all the church institutions were reeling while others had collapse, due to bad management.

In passing the resolution, the council stated that Akaboha had not been able to give good answers to the allegations of sexual misconduct levelled against him in the media. The council believed that the only avenue to save the church and himself, from further embarrassment is to show him the exit from the church.

Similarly, the Oman (Mosano) community has also added its voice to the call for the removal of the leader. A resolution passed by the community pointed out that following acts of Akaboah, which were unbecoming of a man of God, the community cannot allow him to continue as the chief of the town. ?Following recent happenings, we can no longer serve you as our Akaboha again,? the Oman resolved.

The Ghanaian Chronicle gathered that Akaboha had vowed to marshal all the forces under his sleeves to counter the move to abdicate him. Even though insiders say his threat is just a vain one, if it should hold, it would surely serve as a preparatory ground for some of the victims who have recoiled out of fear to come out of hibernation to tell their stories.
