Heavily armed robbers have raided four shops in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital and have absconded with items worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The affected shops include Danny Phones, K2 Boutique Collection and other provision shops all in the same neighbourhood.
The robbers, now at large broke into the shops in the central business city through the roof Monday evening and made away with mobile phones, provisions and over GHC10, 000 sales cash left in the shops by the shop owners.
The New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumeko has dispatched a team of investigators to the crime scene to take inventories and vital information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Burglary is on the rise in the Municipality this year as many homes and shops have lost several properties through robbery.
The burglars mostly pretend to be artisans hired to undertake work in the homes of their victims before robbing them.
Superintendent Richardson Kumekor has advised residents to be vigilant and report such characters to the police for swift intervention to help curb the menace.
He, however, said the Community Policing Unit has intensified patrol in the municipality.
The Effiduase District Police Command under the New Juaben municipality some weeks ago arrested two notorious burglars after they broke into the house of a banker in his absence to steal his properties.
