Robbers raid police barracks for motorbikes

In less than one week, robbers have raided a police barracks at Amanier-Taifa in Ashiaman on two separate occasions and made away with motorbikes belonging to the police officers.

The most interesting part of the story is the bravado displayed by the robbers when they held a policeman at gunpoint and made away with a brand new Royal Jungle bike.

In the first robbery attack, which happened on the night of Wednesday, October 30, the robbers succeeded in stealing a Vesper motorbike which was parked outside the barracks.

The latest robbery happened during the wee hours of Sunday, November 3 when gun-wielding robbers, numbering about four, stormed the police officers residence at Amanier to steal a brand new Royal Jungle bike belonging to one of the officers.

Sources at the barracks told The Finder newspaper that at about 2pm Sunday, an officer, who came out of his room to pass water, was said to have spotted the armed robbers entering the barracks.

In his attempt to rush back into his room and to perhaps raise alarm, one of the robbers was said to have ordered the police officer to freeze at gun point while the others searched through the motorbikes on the compound to select the best ones.

After settling on the fresh Royal Jungle bike, the robbers, the source said, attempted stealing another fresh bike but their attempt was unsuccessful as it was heavily chained to a statutory object.

The robbers run away leaving their unarmed police officer in his boxer shorts.

Some officers who spoke to 'The Finder' on condition of anonymity said not a single officer in that barracks takes his or her gun home after duty.

For that reason, robbers usually raid their premises.
