Robbers raid DEVTRACO

Residents of Heritage Courts of DEVTRACO at Dawhenya, near Tema, have appealed to the security agencies to protect them against incessant robbery attacks.

According to them, they are living in fear following a series of robbery activities in the gated community by some criminals who use unregistered vehicles to commit the act in collaboration with persons they suspect to be insiders.

The residents claim that the attacks had led to residents losing valuable items albeit they have security personnel at post with a police station located in the estate.

The latest of such rampant robberies is said to have occurred recently where daylight burglary occurred in a house and the robbers made away with properties worth thousands of cedis.

Ernest Hammond, the victim, in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, said he was away when the robbers broke into his house through one of the sliding windows.

He said the thieves made away with a plasma television, mobile phones, jewelries, electronic appliances and other valuables.

According to him, he feels unsafe living in the place since the robbery incidents have been regular occurrences.

“I do not know what might happen to me if they came and met me in the house. I feel unsafe living in the estate and want the required protection since I pay for it,” he noted.

Mr. Hammond, therefore, implored the Tema Regional Police Command and other security agencies to intensify security measures in the area.

A petition from the residents which was sighted by DAILY GUIDE, wondered, “How is security being managed on the facility since it had been one of our highest priorities in choosing a place to stay and have families?. The robbers drove in and out of the two security gates with unregistered vehicles. How come?

When contacted via telephone, Augustine Boateng, Estate Manager of DEVTRACO, confirmed the incidents but claimed he was not in the position to talk on the robberies. He said he would connect the paper to the right person in 20 minutes’ time.

After an hour of waiting for the right person to speak on the issue, Mr Boateng was called severally on his phone but he refused to answer the calls.
