ONE out of eight suspected armed robbers who allegedly attacked and robbed SJF Petroleum, a fuel hauling company at Tatso Kope, near Afienya in the Greater Accra Region, has been arrested.

The suspect, Mutala Sani, a 30-year-old unemployed and said to be without any permanent place of abode, was apprehended in connection with the robbery of 47 tipper truck tyres amounting to about GHc100,000.

They were said to have invaded the place where they allegedly covered the mouth of a security man on duty with cloth, tied his hands and legs and embarked on the criminal operation.

A pump action gun belonging to the company was said to have been taken away by the suspected robbers as the security man was later subjected to physical abuse.

Confirming the robbery incident to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, Divisional Police Commander of Dodowa, claimed that the robbers invaded the yard at about 1:00

According to him, upon a tip-off, the police patrol team quickly rushed to the scene to rescue the security man as the criminals escaped.

He said the Afienya police, in collaboration with the Tema patrol team, intercepted the DAF truck with registration number GN 3847 Y, which was loaded with the tyres on the Tema-Akosombo highway.
