TWO YOUNG robbers who are suspected to be in their early twenties, were on Tuesday evening lynched by an angry mob at Kwadaso Estate in Kumasi.
This was after they failed to runaway with a hand bag they had snatched from a young girl who lived in the area.
It was later detected that the bag contained GH¢5.00.
The deceased robbers were part of a three-man gang that had besieged Kwadaso Estate, where they embarked on robbery attacks on the main street near the Lutheran school.
One of the dead robbers was recognized as one Kwame Boameh, who is believed to be around 21 years old.
He used to live in the area sometime ago.
The robbers, who had positioned themselves at vantage points in the area, managed to snatch a hand bag from a young girl who was returning to her house and started to flee with their booty.
The girl, who was slapped by one of the robbers before being robbed, shouted at the top of her voice that she had been robbed and that the robbers were running away with her bag.
The girl’s cries attracted the attention of some neighbours, who gave the three robbers a wild chase.
One of the robbers managed to abscond but luck however eluded the two as they were eventually nabbed by the angry mob, made up of mainly the youth.
The mob meted out instance justice by attacking the robbers with deadly weapons including sharp machetes and blocks, resulting in their deaths.
Their lifeless bodies were later on dumped by the road side in a pool of blood.
When DAILY GUIDE visited the scene around 11:00pm, curious people had gathered at the crime scene and could be heard cursing the two dead robbers.
An eyewitness that spoke to the paper on anonymity said robbers had lately been tormenting the people of Kwadaso Estate.
According to him, the two robbers and their accomplice, upon sighting the girl, approached her and one of the robbers slapped her without provocation.
After the hefty slap, the robbers snatched her hand bag and started running away. The girl however shouted for help and more people appeared at the scene.
The eyewitness noted that the youth of the area who were incensed about the series of robberies in the area lately, managed to grab two of the robbers and lynched them within minutes with offensive weapons.
When DAILY GUIDE was leaving the crime scene around 11:30pm, the police had been called to the scene to pick the corpses to the mortuary for autopsy.
