Cape Coast, May 27, GNA - Kojo Atta 23, a mechanic and an alleged robber, on Tuesday caused a stir, when he jumped from the second floor of a Cape Coast Circuit Court building and fell down unconscious when he was committed to stand trial at the High Court by the Circuit Court. Atta whose plea was not taken, jumped through the windows of the court room immediately his case was called and the handcuffs had been removed and when being ushered into the dock, breaking some of the louvre blades in the process.

Before the incident, Atta had appeared before the court twice and had been committed for trail at the High Court on the advice of the Attorney General's Department.

Atta who landed on his neck, was sent to the hospital by the police and the court had to adjourn proceedings for calm to be restored. The facts of the case are that sometime last year, Atta broke into the offices of Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) at Cape Coast and made away with a motor bike and GH¢100 cash. He allegedly jumped bail after his arrest, until March this year when he attacked two ladies on separate days with a cutlass and robbed them of their Nokia mobile phones.

The second victim on March 29, raised the alarm and he was arrested and sent to the police station, where the first victim identified him as the one who attacked her two days earlier.
