Ritual killings hit Somanya

Dead bodies of two taxi drivers who ply their trade in Somanya and its environs have been found without some body parts in the area, residents have said.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, has left residents living in fear and panic as they suspect the killings are for rituals.

Both taxi drivers were reported missing five months ago, according to reports.

“I knew one taxi driver personally. He wasn’t seen for a day and the following day he was discovered in a gutter by people weeding the roadside. His manhood and heart had both been removed from his body so I believe it was for ritual purposes”, a resident narrated.

Moses Azametsi, a driver in the area expressed shock over the matter stating that members of the union have been advised to keep watch over each other in the community.

“No stranger can board your vehicle without knowing you so we realized that people who boarded their vehicles are people the drivers found familiar. We are putting together an executive meeting that will assist us in educating the drivers on what to do if someone tries to engage their services”, he added.
