The multi-million dollar Greater Accra Regional Hospital which was opened to the public two days ago has been closed down.

This follows the ensuing administrative tension between the embattled medical director of the facility, Thomas Anaba and the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang Manu.

Reports say the brisk activities witnessed at the facility 72 hrs ago is non-existent as patients who visited the refurbished health facility Friday were turned away.

However, no official reasons have been assigned for the closure.

The 420-bed expansion project was financed by the government of Ghana with a credit facility from Exim Bank and HSBC Bank of the United States of America (USA).

Some of the facilities of the hospital are a diagnostic and treatment block with a 24-hour surgery unit, an imaging department, a maternity centre, a national intensive care unit (NICU), an intensive care unit (ICU), an emergency ICU and a burns unit.
