The New patriotic Party in 2015 had a very turbulent year with a series of internal wrangling leading to the death of Adams Mahama, the Northern Regional Chairman of the Party and subsequently the suspensions of three of its top executives; Sammy Crabbe, Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko.

A statement signed by the chairman of the Council of Elders CK Tedam and copied to the flagbearer of the party and former President John Kufuor said the conduct of Mr. Afoko is bringing the image of the party into disrepute.
