Reverend Minister before tribunal for stealing

Accra, Sept. 16, GNA - Albert Abeka, a reverend minister of Christ for All Nations Church, who allegedly collected 1.8 million cedis from a church member with the claim that he had a vision to do so on Thursday appeared before a circuit tribunal in Accra charged with stealing.

Abeka, a priest at the church at Gbawe, in Accra, pleaded not guilty. He was granted 500,000 cedis bail with one surety to appear again on October 14.

Police Inspector Albert Akpey told the tribunal chaired by Mr Charles Louis Quist that the reverend minister was said to have told Ms Betty Mensah that he had a vision that armed robbers would attack her. He claimed that the spirits had requested him to ask her to send all her money to him for safe keeping.

Mr Akpey said Ms Mensah, a trader, gave 1.8 million cedis to the priest, who asked her to undertake a total of 14 days of fasting so as to guard her spiritually from any possible attack. After the fasting, Ms Mensah demanded her money but Akeka could not give it to her.
