Rev. Turkson to Serve On Vatican Council

The Holy Father Pope John Paul II has appointed Most Rev. Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, Archbishop of Cape Coast, as a member of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity.

The council, with Cardinal Walter Kasper of Germany as its President, promotes relations between the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations.

Archbishop Turkson, who is the President of the Ghana Bishops' Conference, is also a member of the Methodist-Catholic dialogue Commission.
