Retired Supreme Court Judge IS dead

Nana Awuah Darko Ampem, Nkosuohene of Asante Juaben Traditional Area, was the at the State House to officially inform President John Agyekum Kufuor about the death of Mr Justice Johnson Yaw Kusi Bodum Boateng Siriboe, a retired Supreme Court Judge on behalf of the Traditional Council and bereaved family.

Nana Ampem said Justice Siriboe, 82, died in a motor accident at Osino in the Eastern Region on Monday, July 16 and would be buried at his hometown, Asante Juaben on Saturday, September 8.

He said the deceased was a purchasing Clerk of the Produce Buying Company (PBC) before he proceeded to the United Kingdom in 1946 to study law, he returned to Ghana and was called to the Bar in 1949 and later set up his own chambers.

Justice Siriboe, one of the first judges to be appointed to the Supreme Court, rose through the ranks in the Judiciary from a Magistrate. He was one time appointed as an Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the Chieftaincy Secretariat.

President Kufuor said the deceased served his country and established a school with his wife in Accra, it was, therefore, fitting that the government was informed of his death and final funeral rites.

He said a government delegation would attend the funeral.

Nana Ampem presented four bottles of schnapps to the government.
