Resolution Of The Chiefs And People Of Aflao

We, the chiefs of Aflao Traditional Area, the Members of Aflao Council of
Elders, the Aflao Members of Ketu South District Assembly, the Members of
Aflao Youth Association and the Members of Aflao Development Advisory
Committee hereby assembled at a Joint Consultative Meeting of Aflao on Saturday,
17th March 2012; and having reviewed the matters relating to the creation
of Aflao Municipal Assembly:

1. do appreciate the good and legitimate decision of the Government to
create Municipal Assembly for Aflao and hereby express our profound
gratitude and unflinching support to the Government for the creation of Aflao
Municipal Assembly;
2. do note that the creation of Aflao Municipal Assembly is not only
lawful but also a legitimate entitlement of the people of Aflao and that
anything otherwise will amount to discrimination against the people of Aflao
in sharing of the national cake;
3. further note, however with much regret that some individuals with
anti-Aflao intent are embarking upon all kinds of activities, including the
propagation of information of false and non-existent boundary dispute
between Aflao and its neighbours in order to prevent the creation of Aflao
Municipal Assembly;
and in order to foil the plans of our detractors and to ensure the
creation of Aflao Municipal Assembly but nothing else, do hereby firmly RESOLVE
and let it be RESOLVED as follows:
a. that the Chiefs and People of Aflao will ever co-operate with and
support the Government in all matters for the creation of Aflao Municipal
Assembly;
b. that the Chiefs and People of Aflao will not co-operate with and
support or participate in the creation of the proposed Ketu South Municipal
Assembly;
c. that the members of the now Ketu South District Assembly from Aflao
Traditional Area will not co-operate or participate in the proposed Ketu
South Municipal Assembly;
d. that the people of Aflao will fully participate in the forthcoming
biometric registration of voters in order to effectively vote in the next
general elections;
e. that the direction of voting by the people of Aflao in the next
general elections will be determined by the creation of Aflao Municipality.
