Report constructions on waterways – NADMO

NADMO has pledged to reduce the rate of floods in the country NADMO has pledged to reduce the rate of floods in the country

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has appealed to the general public to report to the district assemblies or any NADMO office, persons who have built on waterways.

The organisation believes that this will be one way of dealing with flooding in the country.

Evans Anakwa, Director of Floods at the Greater Accra office of NADMO, speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on Monday July 3, said several toll free numbers have been made available and so members of the public can call those lines to volunteer information.

According to him, the fight against floods is a collective responsibility and cannot be left in the hands of NADMO alone, hence the public should play their roles effectively.

“People have built on waterways, causing floods, but we will arrest and prosecute those people. We have that power to prosecute them to deal with the flood menace.

“We have provided toll free numbers which people can call us on to know where a structure has been raised on a waterway.”
