Report On Integrated Management Of Chemicals To Be Out Soon

Accra The first draft report on the development of a framework for integrated management of chemicals and related products is expected to be ready by the end of this month. Dr Peter C. Acquah, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), announced this today at a meeting of experts tasked with planning and implemeting a National Action Programme in Accra. The EPA is coordinating the development of the programme under a pilot project being financed by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Inter-Organisational Programme for the sound Management of Chemicals (IMOC) and the Swiss Government. Ghana, Argentina, Indonesia and Slovenia are being assisted under the project to develop the necessary framework and capacity for the effective implementation of an integrated management of chemicals, especially in the developing world. Dr Acquah recalled a national planning meeting held in December last year to prepare a national profile which is the first stage in the development of the framework and said "the draft report on the country's National profile is expected to be ready by the end of this month..."
