Reinstate Pius Hadzide as Deputy Sports Minister - Dormaahene appeals

Suspended Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide Suspended Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide

Paramount Chief of Dorman Traditional Area in the Brong Ahafo Region, Nana Agyemang Badu II, has made a passionate appeal to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to reconsider reinstating the suspended deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide.

The Dormaahene’s appeal was premised on the grounds that the deputy minister of youth and sports was innocent.

The respected traditional ruler and owner of Aduana Stars Football Club made the appeal when the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Dorman, Brong Ahafo Region.

The visit formed part of activities to cut the sod for the construction of a youth and sports center of excellence in Dorman.

After showing appreciation to the president and government for what he described as an unprecedented development as far as the development of youth and sports in the country was concerned, the Dormanhene commended the suspended deputy minister.

He described him as someone who was very committed to his work and complimented the efforts of the minister ‘beautifully’ to revamp and reposition the ministry.

Nana Badu II lamented the inability of people to await the full facts before “condemning and crucifying” people.

“We are always in a hurry to crucify people even before investigations are conducted.

“I want to urge our brother [referring to the suspended Mr Pius Enam Hadzide] through you, [the sports minister] to remain calm and know that some of us are solidly behind him.

…We have followed his work at the ministry and are impressed,” the Dormanhene stated.

“We also appeal to the police CID to expedite action on the investigations, and we know that the deputy minister would be cleared of any wrongdoing,” the chief confidently expressed.

He further appealed to the president not to hesitate to reinstate the ‘hardworking’ deputy minister immediately the report of the investigation is submitted, “which I believe will absolve him of any wrongdoing.”

The Brong Ahafo regional minister and the chief executive officer of the National Youth Authority accompanied the minister of youth and sports.

It will be recalled that Mr. Enam Hadzie was suspended following reports of alleged deportation of some 60 individuals purporting to be journalists from Australia in connection to the just ended Commonwealth Games.
