Registered anaesthetists withdraw services

Members of the Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists will from Friday, January 31 withdraw their services for all forms of surgery.

This comes in the wake of what they say is unwillingness on the part of the government to meet their demands.

The Association had written to the Minister of Health on January 11, 2020, for an improvement in their conditions of service.

They had embarked on strike last year over the attempt, they say, by some elements within the Medical and Dental Council to have their status changed.

“The union wishes to express its disappointment for the unfortunate event and wishes to appeal to the general public to bear with us,” a statement announcing their action said.

The statement, signed by National President James Nwinsagra, noted that the January 11 letter was sent to the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, through all regional ministers.

But “the union has received no response,” hence the action.
