Regional Ministers end conference in Kumasi

Kumasi, July 30, GNA- The conference of Regional Ministers has appealed to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to provide Regional Co-ordinating Councils (RCCs) list of donor-funded projects being undertaken by other sector ministries and agencies for the guidance and proper monitoring by Regional Ministers.

In a communique issued at the end of their mid-year review conference in Kumasi on Wednesday, the Ministers stressed the need for the RCCs to be provided with adequate information on such projects to ensure effective supervision and co-ordination.

The communiqu=E9, which was read by the chairman of the conference, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, also called for the establishment of a well-defined reporting system between the RCCs and the other sector ministries on one hand and the district assemblies on the other.

This, according to the communique, was to avoid certain lapses and improve co-ordination for the better and effective regional management and collaborative efforts among the stakeholders in the decentralisation process.

The communiqu=E9 commended the government on the rule of law and the principles of good governance as well as political tolerance in the face of extreme provocations.

It further expressed support for the government for the able manner it had so far worked to provide effective measures in maintaining peace in the country, particularly, its handling of the Dagbon crisis and appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to co-operate with the government to sustain the peace.
