Redeem sanctity of Presidency - Rawlings

Adaklu Waya (V/R), Sept. 12 GNA - Former President Jerry John Rawlings, on Thursday urged Ghanaians to redeem the sanctity of the nation's presidency and prevent it from becoming an instrument for suppression and intimidation.

He said this at a rally at Adaklu Waya in the Adaklu Anyigbe District on the last day of his four-day tour of the Volta region. He said the ruling government had proved to be undeserving of the honour and service associated with of the highest office of the land. "The only way we as a nation can liberate ourselves and restore our dignity and integrity is to vote the NPP out of power and restore the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power", he said.

Ex-President Rawlings said if the NDC were to be in power, "Ghana will now be a beautiful and prosperous country".

He said a government of the NDC would create a new district for the people of Adaklu.

Mr Dan Abodakpi, Member of Parliament for Keta said December 7 offered a lifeline to Ghanaians, which should not slip them. Similar rallies were held at Agotime Kpetoe and Ziope, all in the Adaklu Anyigbe District.
