Red Cross Society establish first aid centres on highway

Bunso (E/R), March 07, GNA - The Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Red Cross Society has established Emergency First Aid Centres at some locations along the Accra-Kumasi highway to ensure prompt and efficient attention to road accident victims. The branch had trained 75 volunteers to man the centres located at Dobro near Nsawam, Asuboi near Suhum, Apedwa, Anyinam and Amanfrom near Nkwakaw.

The Regional Secretary of the Society, Mr Kwame Darko-Asumadu, said on Monday that the teams had been well trained on how to handle accident victims until they are taken to hospital. He said it had been established that most accident victims either died or suffered more complications due to the unprofessional manner in which they were transported to hospitals. He said the Society had also opened a shop at the Bunso Rest Stop to sell First Aid boxes to motorists and individuals.
