President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for Ghanaians to recommit to the values of love, service and sacrifice as they joined the rest of the Christian world to celebrate Easter.
They should use the period to remind themselves of their responsibilities to God, and towards one another.

In his Easter message to the nation, he asked that the occasion was celebrated “as our real source of hope that there is a brighter future ahead of us”.

It was a time to renew and strengthen their faith in God - to be confident that with “God’s guidance, we can transform our nation and use all the blessings that the Almighty has bestowed on us to bring progress and prosperity to all our people.”

President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance that the nation was on the right path and underlined his unswerving commitment to uphold the rule of law - respect for individual liberties, human rights and the principles of democratic accountability.

“We are ensuring the realization of fundamental requirements of social justice and solidarity.”

He added that they were looking past the commodities, to position the country in the global market place.

“We are determined to free our people from a mindset of dependence, aid, charity, and handouts. We are bent on mobilizing Ghana’s own considerable resources to resolve Ghana’s problems and we recognize the connectedness of our people and economy to those of our neighbours.

We are building a Ghana beyond aid.”

The resurrection of Jesus Christ, he said, was the ultimate demonstration of victory over adversity.

“It is a testimony of a new life of hope and promise, and fulfilment, for those who work hard for the achievement of victory.”
