“Reckless Tony Aidoo”: Is he one of the Evil Dwarfs?

The youth wing of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has hit back strongly at the acidic-tongued NDC man, Tony Aidoo, describing him as a ‘reckless politician’ who will stop at nothing to destroy the hard-won reputation of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom without any provocation.

Tony Aidoo and his comrade in arms Kwesi Pratt Jr., were in their elements during last Saturday’s Alhaji-Alhaji programme, casting aspersions on Dr. Nduom and his position that all presidential aspirants should declare their assets, declare their income tax return, sources of political funding and make public their health status.

The group, however, promised to visit the Kwesi Pratt case at a later date. Instead of talking to the issues raised and how that can impact positively on the fight against corruption, Tony Aidoo and his ilk went into overdrive using a certain discredited SFO report as the basis of their warped thinking that the content of the so-called SFO report were so damning that Dr. Nduom should not consider running for the highest office, let alone to talk about corruption.

Interestingly it was the same report that the NDC tried albeit unsuccessfully against Dr. Nduom’s nomination as a Minister of State during the Kufuor administration. After their abortive machinations, Tony Aidoo has resorted to the same document which contents- if indeed were credible- would have consigned Dr. Nduom to an unpopular tag as once jail-bird- as a biblical document upon which he cites aspects of its contents, ostensibly to unleash his mischief and chicanery.

Below is the full statement of the PPP youth:

“It has been reported that Dr. Tony Aidoo, Head of the Policy and Monitoring Unit for President John Mahama is worried about Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom PPP flag bearer's challenge to other flagbearers to make a personal commitment to the crusade against corruption which he launched several weeks ago.

It is obvious that Tony Aidoo is now panicking not that he just heard this challenge; but that Ghanaians are supporting this crusade against corruption. He is worried that many have condemned President John Mahama's call for those calling him corrupt to report him to investigative agencies he presides over!

All Dr. Nduom has asked of all presidential candidates is - make public: their Tax Returns, Assets Declaration Documents and Sources of Campaign Funding.

The fact of the matter is that Dr. Nduom has not named ANYBODY as being corrupt. Is Tony Aidoo afraid of his own shadow? Is he nervous for President Mahama or any of his party men and women who their founder had described as corrupt or evil geniuses or is it Dwarfs?

If Dr. Nduom is a tax evader, should Tony Aidoo not jump and sing "Hallelujah"? If that were the case then this is the period that Tony Aidoo can easily wreck Dr. Nduom’s political dream which is all about being realized. Has he forgotten that his NDC people took Dr. Nduom on during the vetting in Parliament in 2001 and lost rather disgracefully on the matter? When Parliament rules on a matter what happens, Tony Aidoo?

We would have appreciated that he did something good for his wretched live and mother Ghana rather than parading as an unemployed PHD holder when his party went into hibernation-storming one radio station to another to make a living. What happened to his doctorate degree? He should thank his mentor, former President Rawlings and the late President Atta-Mills who made it possible for him to be able to put food on the table for his family.

Can he make any decent living aside of the obvious cramps he had been enjoying from the stables of politics? Why did he not go back to the lecture hall or engage in any meaningful employment, during the eight year period that his party was in oblivion? We wish to state in no uncertain term that no amount of shouting propaganda will turn skin-pain lies into truth.

We are all ready for Tony Aidoo and his cohorts and in the coming weeks, we promise to make a bold statement on his reckless character, despicable background during his lecturing days at the University of Cape Coast and many more.

Tony Aidoo should be told in plain language that he cannot taunts the PPP and Dr. Nduom with that discredited tax matter which genesis he knew very well was a masterful orchestration by his pay masters during the heady days of the (P) NDC where any successful man/woman whose wealth was not induced by the that Fascist regime was considered an enemy.

We warned the late President Mills about this wind bag. It is this man whose tenure at the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) resulted in Vision 2020 that he could not monitor leading to the missing of all targets set for the first five years! It is this same man who recklessly pulled a gun on someone in broad daylight. So when he is worried that Ghanaians want competent incorruptible leadership, we understand.

It is NDC founder Mr. J. J. Rawlings who a few days warned President Mahama against "...evil dwarfs" who have surrounded him. A word to the wise is enough!
