Rebel Group in Ghana for Liberia peace talks

Liberia's newest rebel group, Model, arrived in Ghana on Sunday to join peace talks aimed at ending years of war in the West African country, Ghana's foreign minister said.

''They are all here. I'm hopeful for the talks,'' Nana Akufo-Addo told Reuters, adding the talks would resume on Monday as expected.

The peace talks got off to a shaky start last week when a U.N.-backed court indicted Liberian President Charles Taylor for war crimes as he was in Ghana attending the opening ceremony.

The negotiations were later adjourned as fresh fighting broke out on the outskirts of the capital Monrovia, and to give the Model rebels time to arrive in Ghana.

The main rebel faction, Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD), is already in Ghana.
