The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has said that its decision to re-exhibit the Provisional Voters Register for the 2024 general elections shows that it is open to constructive feedback from political parties.
At an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held in Accra on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa said the move was critical in promoting transparency and confidence in the electoral process.
Jean Mensa stressed the need for constructive feedback from political parties, commending the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for recommending the re-exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register, which she indicated led to the commission’s decision to re-exhibit the register online.
“The re-exhibition of the Provisional Voters Register has never happened before; indeed, this is the first time. And it demonstrates that this commission is a listening one; it’s a commission that is open to receiving feedback for the betterment of its stakeholders.
“And we would like to thank the NDC for this idea of re-exhibiting the voters' register; it also demonstrates that we’re a transparent commission and that we walk and work with our stakeholders,” she said.
She added, "We are confident with this approach, and we believe that we will have a near-perfect final voters register ahead of the 2024 December elections."
The online re-exhibition will run from Tuesday, October 15, 2024, to Saturday, October 19, 2024.
