Re: NDC Adentan primaries: Ramadan not an aspirant to win Adentan seat

My attention has been drawn to a story on Ghanaweb written by one Michael Sumaila with the above headline. The writer alleges in the story that Mohammed Adamu Ramadan who is now the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC in the Adentan Constituency has been distributing rice which belongs to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to the grassroots of the NDC with the help of his younger brother, Abu Ramadan (Deputy Director of NADMO).

For the records, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan started helping the party with rice and oil and many other things from 2014 when NDC was in government. Abu Ramadan was appointed as a Deputy Director of NADMO in 2017 by president Akufo Addo. The question is where did Adamu Ramadan receive rice and oil when his younger brother was in opposition? Truth stands!

The writer also alleges that Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, became a member of the NDC in 2015. This is absolutely false. Adamu Ramadan joined the NDC in 1998. He actively participated and campaigned for late Evans Atta Mills in 2004 and 2008 elections.

The writer further alleges that Mohammed Adamu Ramadan cannot win the Adentan seat therefore Nana Oye Lithur should be voted for as the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC for the Adentan Constituency. For the records, Adamu Ramadan won more votes than president John Mahama even though the NDC lost both parliamentary and presidential elections in the 2016 elections. This is a clear indication that Adamu Ramadan is not a bad candidate. The push for change after every eight years in government was what affected his chances of retaining the Adentan seat.

The other allegation is that Adamu Ramadan's father (Ahmed Ramadan) and his sister (Samira Bawumiah) are NPP therefore his hands are tied. This is a baseless accusation. Adamu Ramadan served as a presidential staffer under the erstwhile Mahama Administration. Before Mahama appointed him he knew his family background. Also, this is not the first time he is contesting election in the NDC. In 2016, he was the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Adentan.

Yesterday, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan beat the former Gender Minister to become the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Adentan for the second time. We are very much aware of plots and schemes to cause his defeat but with God by his side, he will prevail. Let all detractors and enemies both within and without know that Adamu Ramadan has learned his lessons and absolutely nobody will stop him from taking the lost Adentan Seat.

The allegations are unfounded, baseless and fraudulent and they should be dismissed.
