Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 to secure their first win in the ongoing 2017/2018 GPL at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.

Second half goals from Patrick Razak and Joseph Esso made the difference between Hearts and Dwarfs.

Patrick Razak’s introduction in the second half did the trick for the Phobians who struggled in the first 45 minutes.

His electric runs down the flanks and link up plays with Joseph Esso created openings for Hearts but they had wait to until the 58th minute to find the opener.

Razak was played into by Joseph Esso then sent a low drive beyond the reach the Dwarfs goalie to give Hearts the much-needed goal.

Dwarfs replied with successive attacks but the Hearts players held their nerves to ensure that their lead was not cancelled.

Joseph Esso doubled the lead in the 80th minute after he was gifted a pass from Christopher Bonney. The forward calmly tapped in the ball to get his second goal in three league appearances.

The win comes as a big relief for Coach Wellington and his charges who have been at the receiving end of attacks by a section of the Hearts supporters following their loss to Ashgold last weekend.

Hearts by virtue of this win, move up to 7th with 4 points on the league table with Dwarfs on 9th with 4 points.

Fans of the club will be hoping the victory will be a turnaround point for their club which has not won the league title since 2009.
