Rawlings to be resettled out of Accra

The Dispatch says credible information available to it indicates that the former First Family will not be staying at their current Ridge residence for too long.

"They will be given the choice of a five-bedroom house on Switchback Road near the residences of the Liberian Ambassador to Ghana and head of the USAID in Accra or locations outside Accra, probably Adenta, MaCarthy Hill or Tema,"

The house also has boys' quarters and enough space to handle security detail. The house in question is the duty post accommodation for the Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).

There are feverish renovations going on and since it is surrounded by homes of high level diplomats, general security for the area is also being considered.

According to the Dispatch the house it located was not the one described as the Australia House by media reports, which the ex-President was said to be interested in

Sources close to the NPP said it was out of the question that the Australia House would be given to former President Rawlings but added that "President Kufuor has said both privately and publicly that whatever decision he takes will be in consultation with the former President."
