A leading member of the National Democratic Congress, Alhaji Mohammed Saani, has refuted the claims that Former President Rawlings is the main founder of the party.
Alhaji Saani argued that there was a group of founding members and Jerry John Rawlings was just one of them.
Speaking on Nhyira FM, Alhaji Saani stated that it was about time members of the party and the general public acknowledged Rawlings as just a member of the founding group, but not the sole pioneer of the party.
Alhaji Saani also criticized J.J Rawlings' accusations that the NDC leadership was greedy and corrupt and that caused their defeat in the 2016 elections.
Saani said the former president's assertions are made out of bitterness, as such his claims should be dismissed by all.
According to an Adom FM report, he was responding to Jerry J. Rawlings' speech at the celebration of the 38th anniversary of the June 4 Revolution, where Rawlings stated the NDC had lost the ideals and principles that the party was built upon, from the June 4 events.
Rawlings had lambasted Former President Mahama's time in power, describing him as a 'lame horse' who caused the defeat of the NDC in 2016.
However, Alhaji Saani debunked these claims stating, "Mr. Rawlings got it wrong in accusing the party leadership of being corrupt. He also got it wrong when he said we planned to eliminate him from the party. A lot of things he has said about the party in the past are lies….he should know that we are practicing democracy. He should learn to be truthful."
He further alleged that Rawlings tended to turn against people if they did not meet his standards, adding he likes to 'tune people like radios.'
