Rawlings is not a bully – Konadu

The Rawlingses The Rawlingses

Former President Jerry Rawlings is not a bully at home, his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has stated.

According to the former first lady, Mr. Rawlings is rather a warm person who has the capacity to tolerate and accommodate every opinion at home regardless of the differences.

The former military leader who has been christened ‘Dr Boom’ is widely known for his public outbursts against his political opponents and what he describes as social ills. He had a long-running public disagreements and often publicly lambasted his successor, the late President John Mills.

But speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM Tuesday, Konadu Rawlings said claims that her husband is a mean person are only perceptions and not reality.

“ He is not a bully at home; well he can be at times, but it's not as people see it. What people think of him is just a perception and once that drops in there, it is difficult to erase it”.

She added that she finds it ridiculous that people expect her to be afraid of her husband.

“Once, I was asked by a woman if I was not afraid of my husband and I laughed and responded: ‘Why would I be afraid of him, why would I marry a man I am afraid of? I won’t do that,’ he is not as people think”.
