Former president has sought to clarify the popular misconception in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposition that the former head of state hates the NDC, the party he founded.

According to former President Jerry John Rawlings, certain members of the party he founded, the NDC, have the wrong idea that he somehow feels negative sentiments towards the party.

Speaking at the 80th Ada Asafotufiame Festival over the weekend, former president Rawlings expressed that contrary to what some NDC members thought, he [president Rawlings] actually hates corruption and not the NDC party.

"When I talk, they say I don't like NDC, no! I don't like stealing, I don't like disgrace so If NDC does good I will praise them if they are bad I will say it as well." Said one of Ghana's former heads of state.

Former Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings went on to epress that that as for as he was concerned, he would "praise" whatever political party that worked towards the benefit of the Ghanaian people.

Former president Rawlings clearly related that just as he would praise any party that worked for the people, he would also condemn whatever party he saw as corrupt.

"If NPP does well, I will praise them, if they do bad I will hit them on their back", he said.

The former Commander-in-chief of the Ghana Armed Forces stated that corruption prevailed after he left office after his second democratic term.

He stated that through out the subsequent presidencies corruption prevailed, but that President Nana Akufo Addo had taken a good stance against small scale mining.
