Rawlings endorsement is positive for NDC- Kwesi Amakye

Political Scientist at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kwesi Amakye says the endorsement of President Mahama by former President Jerry John Rawlings is a morale booster to the campaign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the lecturer, the former president represents a strong constituency in Ghana's politics, and by far, would impact positively on the NDC in the December polls.

“I strongly believe that Mr. Rawlings statement will spark the campaign of the NDC because he represents a constituency in our politics, so it is important they get his backing”, Mr. Amakye told Oman FM in Accra.

Though he was of the firm believe that the NDC government had not done enough to win a second term, he emphasized that Mr. Rawlings recent assertion would brighten the chances of the party.

The NDC founder on Wednesday reportedly said that the leadership attributes of President Mahama have revived the rank and file of the party, and insisted that the NDC has a better chance of winning the December elections.

Mr. Rawlings made the assertion when addressing the Volta Regional House of Chiefs in Ho at its emergence meeting on Wednesday.
