Rawlings Served

…To Appear In Chicago Court
Former President Jerry John Rawlings has finally been served with a subpoena order to appear and testify in a case before Judge William O’Malley of Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, United States.

The subpoena served on Mr Rawlings vindicates Daily Guide’s publication, which generated controversy, with Aide to the former President, Victor Smith denying it.

The subpoena as addressed to the Ghana Mission in Washington, D.C. for onward transmission to Accra.

Daily Guide learnt that the Ghana Mission in Washington had received the subpoena order and forwarded same to the former President in Accra.

Rawlings, who is presently outside the country, attending a conference in Bermuda in the Carribean, has been commanded by the Cook County Circuit Court to appear before it on October 16, 2006 at 9am.

Even though Mr Rawlings is appearing before Judges O’Malley as a witness, he has been ordered to come with all doucemnts, pictures, video tapes, in connection with the execution of General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, former Head of State of Ghana.
