Rawlings Plans Coup....

...To Remove Mills & Obed
According to the STATESMAN, on May 1, 2002, Prof. Mills was endorsed as the presidential candidates of the progressive Alliance by President Rawlings saying “In Prof. Mills, I have found a worth successor”.

However, today, the former president is making scathing remarks on what he perceives as his chosen heir apparent’s “weak leadership”, which he predicts to be a recipe for disaster come next year’s general elections.

So certain is he of Prof. Mills unlikelihood returning his party to government that Rawlings is said to be laying finalized plans to replace the Prof. With his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings to fight Kufuor for the December 2004 presidential elections.

Rawlings made the shocking revelation about his disappointment when he met the Executive Members of the UK & Ireland Branch of the party earlier this week.

According to THE STATESMAN , a clarion call to initiate moves to replace Obed Asamoah as chairman of the NDC this year was unanimously made as Rawlings told the branch leaders that so long as Dr. Asamoah remains at the helm of party affairs, there can be no unity in the party, necessary for the NDC to concentrate on taking back the reins of power from the NPP.

Meanwhile, the UK & Ireland Branch of the NDC acquiesced with the palace coup scheme promised to issue a public statement today, Friday April 25, calling for the chairman to resign.

At press time there was nothing to suggest that this date has been changed.
