Rawlings' Admirer Loses Job

- After Disagreeing With Ex-KMA Boss Okumkom

A 59-year-old admirer of the former President, Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings (rtd), has 'lost' his job in Kumasi.

The man, Mr. Baba Lokko, a professional driver, felt disgusted by his employer's new-found penchant for constantly pouring a tirade of insults on Mr. Rawlings.

Ironically, Baba Lokko was referring to Okunkom Nana Akwasi Agyeman, the NDC Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority (KMA) who he had been driving for the past 15 years.

Mr. Lokko said he found Okunkom's behaviour nauseating, as it is completely alien to the fawning adulation that his boss poured on Mr. Rawlings for more than 15 years that he had worked with him.

"I have decided to give him back his keys before anything happens. I get highly agitated and irritated by his actions," Lokko told an NDC forum in Kumasi recently.

Meanwhile The Weekend Heritage. has discovered that for the 15 years that he served the former KMA boss, his master, Lokko was not on an official pay roll even though he drove Nana Akwasi Agyeman's official vehicle allocated to him.

"He lived at the pleasure of Nana Akwasi Agyeman who dashed him some money now and then, but his name was not on our pay roll", a source at KMA told The Weekend Heritage.

It was learnt further that Lokko also doubled as a houseboy for the eccentric former Kumasi Mayor and closed on the job well after midnight.

Lokko's disclosure that he has dumped Nana Akwasi Agyeman received wild applause but Akwasi Beyie, the Ashanti Regional Organiser of the NDC, who introduced the former driver of the KMA boss, failed to say whether the party would offer him any assistance in return for walking off the job.

"We ourselves are jobless. How can we give him any job", one NDC activist was overheard asking.
